CS Duale reacts after Health Ministry move

The new Health Cabinet Secretary, Aden Duale, has expressed his thanks to President William Ruto for once again entrusting him with a key government portfolio.
In a statement, Duale acknowledged the President’s confidence in his leadership, noting that it was a privilege to serve in the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change & Forestry.
“I sincerely thank H.E. President William Ruto for his trust in my leadership and for appointing me to steer the Ministry of Health. It was an honour to serve at the Ministry of Environment, where we made significant strides in environmental conservation and climate action,” he stated.
Duale emphasized the vital role of healthcare in the nation’s prosperity, pledging to collaborate with stakeholders to enhance healthcare systems and service delivery.
He highlighted Universal Health Coverage (UHC) as a top priority, aiming to ensure equitable access to quality healthcare, particularly for vulnerable communities.
“The health of a nation determines its prosperity. As I take on this new responsibility, I am committed to strengthening healthcare policies and ensuring that all Kenyans have access to quality medical services,” he said.
He further noted that healthcare is a crucial pillar of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and emphasized the importance of interministerial collaboration to improve service delivery and enhance the well-being of Kenyans.
This is Duale’s third ministerial role, having previously served as the Cabinet Secretary for Defence and later for Environment, Climate Change & Forestry.
His redeployment was part of the recent government restructuring announced by President Ruto on Wednesday, in which Deborah Barasa was named as his successor in the Environment Ministry.
President William Ruto also nominated Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku as the new Cabinet Secretary for Public Service and Human Capital Development. Additionally, Hanna Cheptumo has been nominated to lead the Ministry of Gender, Culture, The Arts, and Heritage.
